Free Ride To Your Vaccine

Santa Rosa CityBus, in coordination with Sonoma County Transit (SCT) & Petaluma
Transit (PT), are now offering systemwide fare-free transit and paratransit transportation for any person traveling to or from a City/County COVID-19 vaccination site with proof of vaccination appointment on the day of travel.

Given the ongoing public health emergency, this program is intended to help address the financial and transportation-related barriers many residents may face to accessing COVID-19 vaccinations. This fare-free service includes regular bus service, regular paratransit service, City of Santa Rosa shuttle service and Call-Ahead services instituted to fill gaps in the transit service network during the COVID-19 pandemic. To qualify for this service, passengers must show proof of vaccination appointment, in print or on their mobile device, to the transit operator when boarding the vehicle.

SRJC’s Web Development Boot Camp begins Summer 2021

The Computer Studies Dept (SRJC) is offering a Web Development Boot Camp.  This is an accelerated version of the Web Fundamentals certificate, which will allow students to become proficient in front-end mobile & web development in just 26 weeks.  The first boot camp class will be held during the summer 2021 semester.  The 2 other classes required for the skills certificate will be taught during the fall semester.
Web development continues to be a fast-growing career track & SRJCs Web Development Boot Camp will teach the specialized skills one needs to gain entry to the tech industry.  A program for people who are ready to work hard on a challenging, immersive curriculum. Through a virtual classroom environment & collaborations with classmates, students will get hands-on experience in front-end development, and be able to put new skills into practice on complex projects right away.

Paint the Town Purple with Lights

National Travel & Tourism week is in May.  Last year, Sonoma County
Tourism asked those in the hospitality industry to light their buildings
& landmarks in purple.

They are again encouraging businesses in Sonoma County to light it up in "Pinot Purple" for the nights of May 2nd-8th.  If your business or property already has outdoor lighting, but you need purple gels, SCT can provide them to you at no cost.  If you do not have outdoor lighting, colored LED floodlights can be purchased from online sources at relatively low cost.  Participating businesses will be feature on the Sonoma County Tourism website & may receive additional exposure by participating in this campaign

Starting & finishing at the Church of the Incarnation in the heart of

First Annual Student Photography Exhibition by SRJC Photo Club

The Santa Rosa Junior College Photography Club will host the first annual juried student photography exhibition, entitled, “SoCo Clicks.”  This is a hybrid event, with the winner’s work displayed at the Museum of Sonoma County July 3 to October 31 & a virtual exhibition of selected entries online.  The event will showcase photography taken by Sonoma County students, high school & up. Photographs will be reviewed by a panel of professional photographers & there will be a cash prize of $1,000 for “Best of Show,” as well as other prizes.
