Think back to the time when women were just entering the workforce in large numbers, armed with shoulder pads, perms and pant suits, hopes and expectations. 9 to 5 is a tale of three such women. 9 to 5 is full of great music and funny moments, but it also exposes how much work is left to be done to achieve equality. It’s our hope that when you walk out of the theater humming songs from the show, you just might be moved to take action!Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 7:30pmSaturdays & Sundays, 2:00pm

ONE SHOW ONLY, PLUS Q&A WITH DIRECTOR BEFOREHAND!Special event and first public screening of the witty and poignant new film, "How to Successfully Fail in Hollywood," a local, female-led indie created by Bay Area’s own C.M. Conway (she/her). Inclusive of the LGBTQIA+ and BIOPOC communities. Informal Q&A with director and audience at 5:30 pm, screening at 6:00 pm. ADVANCE TICKETS STRONGLY SUGGESTED, NOW AVAILABLE AT: FunnyFailureFilm.comThe film is an ode to struggling artists trying to make it against all odds on their terms... while navigating truth, fantasy and identity in outrageous Tinseltown. Uplift the stories of females and minorities. Take a picture with Cassie, the fun 'dog' in the movie too!Synopsis: Ellie (C.M. Conway) is a bottom-feeder actress at the end of her rope in Hollywood, when a life-changing event happens with her gay, Latinx friend, Ben (Adrian Gilbert). A surreal twist unfolds with comedic results, blurring the lines of fantasy and reality, as she unwittingly becomes the key to a new take on Tinseltown where failure is the star. “The tone of the movie is comic, but its purpose is serious. It both models and promotes diversity and inclusion in filmmaking.” Dan Taylor, The Press Democrat.Tags: arts and entertainment, film, indie, comedy, drama, women, bay area, lgbtq

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s remarkable arrival on the music scene in 1993 reminded the world, in the midst of the grunge era no less, that it was still cool to swing. The band, co-founded by singer Scotty Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren, was at the fore of the swing revival of that time, blending a vibrant fusion of the classic American sounds of jazz, swing, and Dixieland with the energy and spirit of contemporary culture. Taking inspiration from the creators of this uniquely American art form, the band’s original horn-infused music and legendary high-energy show introduces the genre to a new and younger generation, while continuing to respect the music’s rich legacy.Since its formation in Ventura, California, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has toured virtually nonstop, performing, on average, more than 150 shows a year. They have produced a sizable catalog of recorded music, with sales of more than 2 million albums to date. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s all original core line-up includes Scotty Morris (lead vocals and guitar), Kurt Sodergren (drums), Dirk Shumaker (double bass and vocals), Andy Rowley (baritone saxophone and vocals), Glen “The Kid” Marhevka (trumpet), Karl Hunter (saxophones and clarinet), and Joshua Levy (piano and arranger). The band’s music has appeared in countless films and television shows, including the 1996 indie film Swingers, The Wild, Despicable Me, Phineas & Ferb, Friends, Third Rock From The Sun, Ally McBeal, and So You Think You Can Dance.

Out of the darkness comes a new dawn. In their HOPE concert, which commemorates and remembers South Africa’s freedom movement and the civil rights movement in the US, three-time Grammy Award®-winning Soweto Gospel Choir brings joy and inspiration to all. Versa-Style Dance Company’s latest full-length work, FREE-Mind FREE-Style, consists of high-energy, unadulterated hip hop movement that will explore the depths of improvisational dance. Using street dance vernacular as vehicles of expression, such as locking, popping, hip hop and krump, this unique show offers a brand new experience of freestyle street dance live on stage. Audiences will walk away with a visceral immersion into Hip Hop dance culture. The work dives into the concept of freedom from all angles: the personal, the political, the physical, and the spiritual. How do we experience freedom? What contains us, oppresses us, and what ultimately allows us to break free? FREE-Mind, FREE-Style explores these questions from both the evolutionary and ancestral lens, blending cutting-edge hip hop, popping, and krump movement with house dance that pays homage to the Afro-Latin roots of Hip Hop dance culture, where street dancers ultimately draw their revolutionary power.Danced to sonic remixes of hip hop, classical, and electronic music, the work pushes the dancers’ physical limits. It calls upon each artist in the diverse company to draw upon his and her own experience of freedom and the battle it takes to achieve it.
